Opportunity Stages

Important Note: NorthBoundary is now SalesManager. In SalesManager, formerly known as NorthBoundary, existing Opportunity Stages can be modified and new ones can be created.

Default Opportunity Stages, which include following, cannot be deleted and can only have the description field modified:

  • New
  • Opportunity
  • Proposal
  • Sold
  • Lost
  • Dead

Any Custom Opportunity stages can be modified and deleted.

This article will walk Admins through creating and editing Opportunity Stages.

To access your Opportunity Stages settings:

  1. Click the wheel icon on the top right of the page.
    • This will open a System Settings page, allowing you to access all sub-menus.
  2. Click the Opportunities button on the Nav Bar.
  3. Click the Opportunity Stages Button.

Here you will see a list of all of your existing Opportunity Stages.

Creating a New Opportunity Stage

  1. Click the wheel icon on the top right of the page.
  2. Click the Opportunities button on the Nav Bar.
  3. Click the Opportunity Stages Button.
  4. At the top of the menu, enter a Stage Name and Description.
    • *Optional - A Parent Stage can be selected as well. Only the six default opportunity stages will appear on reports. If you want your custom stage information to appear on reports you can select a relevant default stage, for the information to be grouped under in the report.
  5. Click to select a Color for the stage. Be sure the color does not match an existing stage color from the list below.

  6. Click Save. This will create the Opportunity Stage and add it to the bottom of the list.
  7. To rearrange the order, click on the new Opportunity Stage.
  8. Click the up and down arrow to move the stage into the correct order.
  9. Click Save Order.

  10. Your new Opportunity Stage will appear on the Opportunity Manager. If you do not see it, be sure to apply the new stage on the Stage Configuration Filter.

Editing Opportunity Stages

  1. Click the wheel icon on the top right of the page.
  2. Click the Opportunities button on the Nav Bar.
  3. Click the Opportunity Stages Button.
  4. Click on the relevant Opportunity Stage from the list.
  5. At the top of the menu,  you change the Stage Name and/or Description.
    • *Optional - A Parent Stage can be selected as well. Only the six default opportunity stages will appear on reports. If you want your custom stage information to appear on reports you can select a relevant default stage, for the information to be grouped under in the report.
  6. You can click to select a Color for the stage. Be sure the color does not match an existing stage color from the list below.
  7. Click Save when done.

Rearranging (Moving) an Opportunity Stage Position

  1. Click the wheel icon on the top right of the page.
  2. Click the Opportunities button on the Nav Bar.
  3. Click the Opportunity Stages Button.
  4. Click on the relevant Opportunity Stage from the list.
  5. To rearrange the order, click on the new Opportunity Stage.
  6. Click the up and down arrow to move the stage into the correct order.
  7. Click Save Order.

Deleting an Opportunity Stage

Important Note: When you delete an Opportunity Stage, every Opportunity in the Stage you delete will no longer have a stage and need to be given a new one. You should move all Opportunities out of the stage and into another one before deletion.

  1. Click the wheel icon on the top right of the page.
  2. Click the Opportunities button on the Nav Bar.
  3. Click the Opportunity Stages Button.
  4. Click on the relevant Opportunity Stage from the list.
  5. At the top of the menu click the Delete Button.
  6. Click OK.
